It has almost been two years since our school implemented IB MYP, our teachers and students have endeavored to embrace the international mindedness, standards and practices promoted by the International Baccalaureate Program.

On the 20th-21st March, Miss Joanna Louise Cardinal paid a two-day consultation visit to our school. Miss Joanna, who is assigned by the regional IB office, is a very experienced and supportive consultant. The main purpose of this visit is to access the extent to which our school is prepared and to provide us with a summary of our school’s position in relation to the planning for verification. During the visit, she met with administrators, the coordinator, all subject teachers, parents, and students; ensuring our school’s philosophy and mission statement aligned with those of the IB; toured the school; looked at facilities and resources; observed classes; reviewed curriculum development; shared insightful materials; answered questions and gave useful and constructive advice for our next step.

After the visit, all involved have taken advantage of this opportunity to strengthen the implementation of the IB programme. It is a rigorous process for us to become a continuum school, following the “Curriculum Framework for Formal Education of Local Education System” and adapting the IBMYP framework to the “Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments of Local Education System”. However,  our school strives to accomplish it efficiently and systemically while students are being well facilitated to challenge the ever-changing future with various visions and skills.

教業中學MYP初中國際課程開設已一年多,相關教學工作依計劃和要求順利進行。IBO國際文憑組織為深入了解該校教學狀況和效果,日前委派國際課程MYP顧問JOANNA小姐,專程到該校進行為期兩天的詳細了解。

JOANNA顧問對學校的了解工作包括座談討論、訪問國際課程各科教師、參觀各項設施、教學課堂觀察、了解遇到的挑戰和取得的教學成果,以及訪問學生、訪問家長等。在兩天時間裡,從早上八點至晚上八點,每天安排12個訪談環節,每個環節45分鐘,一環接一環,時間銜接非常緊湊。內容安排也非常嚴謹細致,其中有對國際課程實施情況的瞭解,包括詳細考核八大學科組對國際課程教學理念的理解,核查各個學科組的教學計劃、單元計劃等,並著重瞭解學科組的評核標準。期間JOANNA顧問親自走進國際班的課堂,與學生面對面對話交流,還參觀了圖書館、電腦資訊室、實驗室等各個教學功能室,認真審核學校硬體設施對教學的支援。在辦學理念及組織結構審核環節上,主要通過與管理團隊交流溝通,瞭解國際課程管理團隊中的每一員是否都清晰國際課程的理念。最後還專門約見了家長、學生,就課程的理念、學習和收獲等作了祥盡的訪談和全面的了解。

這次JOANNA顧問對教業中學實施國際課程教學情況的了解非常細致深入。一是訪談對象涉及面廣,不僅是校長、主任,還有每一位任教IB國際班的教師、12位國際班家長、11位國際班學生;二是專業指導性強,JOANNA顧問以國際課程授權審核標準為基礎,就理念、組織結構和課程三大方面,對學校進行全面考察,一一對應細則,並對學校持續進行國際課程MYP項目提出了下一步可行性計劃,同時也對我校即將申請的高中國際課程DP項目提供了專業的指導。

教業中學於2016年9月成為IB國際課程MYP項目預授權學校。在近兩年的時間裡,一支優質專業的教師隊伍不斷壯大,課堂呈現的教學模式優化轉變,學生的精神面貌和學習效果也發生了顯著變化,並影響和帶動著並行雙語班的提高與進步。在未來的日子裏,該校將繼續在充分遵循《本地學制課程制度框架》,並依據落實“基本學力要求”的基礎上,不斷提昇課程品質與教學質量,將學校的教學管理舉措落到實處,努力實現“培養學生具有‘家國情懷、傳統根基、世界眼光,能適應未來社會發展的優質人才’”目標。
