To enhance the \u201cHome-School Collaboration\u201d and to help the parents to be familiar with Kao Yip Middle School, the International Section has organized the Parents\u2019 Day for the parents of K1, P1 and F1 students. The section launched different activities to strengthen the communication among the school, students and parents.<\/p>\n

In the International Section JM1, starting with the introduction of the IB\/MYP curriculum by Ms. Xu and Ms. Jackie and some group presentations by F1 students. Parents have gained more knowledge of the future development of the IB\/MYP curriculum and become confident in the academic growth of their children.<\/p>\n

In the International Section P1 and K1, teachers have explained their teaching plans and have demonstrated several student-centered classes to the attending parents. Parents have strengthened their understandings of the IB program by the student representatives\u2019 sharing and parent-child interactive activities.<\/p>\n

With the strong reassurance and positive feedback from the parents, we endeavor to ensure that our new K1, P1 and F1 students will make great achievements and enjoy their time in Kao Yip Middle School.<\/p>\n

2018.10<\/p>\n

To celebrate the 69th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, the International Section (Secondary) at Kao Yip School conducted a theme-based inquiry activity. This activity also illustrated the characteristics of the International Curriculum, as it both developed students\u2019 patriotic sentiment in combination with the ten attributes of the IB Learner Profile.<\/p>\n

During the activity, students gave presentations on seven topics: \u201cThe Origins of the National Flag, National Emblem and National Anthem\u201d, \u201cThe Establishment of the People\u2019s Republic of China\u201d, \u201cThe Chinese Culture: What We are Proud of\u201d, \u201cReform and Opening\u201d, \u201cThe Belt and Road Initiative\u201d, \u201cThe Greater Bay Area\u201d, and \u201cChinese Dream, My Dream\u201d. Students were highly regarded by teachers and students with their excellent public-speaking style and body language, as well as the informativeness of the presentation concluded from substantial research.<\/p>\n

\u6b64\u6b21\u6d3b\u52d5\u4ee5\u5404\u73ed\u5b78\u751f\u5c0f\u7d44\u5408\u4f5c\u6a21\u5f0f\u9032\u884c\uff0c\u900f\u904e\u641c\u96c6\u3001\u8a0e\u8ad6\u548c\u7e3d\u7d50\u76f8\u95dc\u8cc7\u6599\uff0c\u5f62\u6210\u5404\u7d44\u7368\u7279\u7684\u5b78\u8853\u6210\u679c\uff0c\u518d\u8207\u5168\u73ed\u5206\u4eab\uff0c\u6709\u52a9\u65bc\u63d0\u5347\u5b78\u751f\u7684\u5408\u4f5c\u3001\u63a2\u7a76\u3001\u53cd\u601d\u548c\u6f14\u8b1b\u80fd\u529b\u3002\u672c\u6b21\u63a2\u7a76\u7684\u4e03\u500b\u4e3b\u984c\u5206\u5225\u662f\uff1a\u570b\u65d7\u3001\u570b\u5fbd\u548c\u570b\u6b4c\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\uff1b\u65b0\u4e2d\u570b\u7684\u7531\u4f86\uff1b\u5f15\u4ee5\u70ba\u50b2\u7684\u4e2d\u570b\u6587\u5316\uff1b\u6539\u9769\u958b\u653e\uff1b\u4e00\u5e36\u4e00\u8def\uff1b\u5927\u7063\u5340\uff1b\u4e2d\u570b\u5922\u00b7\u6211\u7684\u5922\u3002<\/p>\n

It has almost been two years since our school implemented IB MYP, our teachers and students have endeavored to embrace the international mindedness, standards and practices promoted by the International Baccalaureate Program.<\/p>\n

On the 20th-21st March, Miss Joanna Louise Cardinal paid a two-day consultation visit to our school. Miss Joanna, who is assigned by the regional IB office, is a very experienced and supportive consultant. The main purpose of this visit is to access the extent to which our school is prepared and to provide us with a summary of our school\u2019s position in relation to the planning for verification. During the visit, she met with administrators, the coordinator, all subject teachers, parents, and students; ensuring our school\u2019s philosophy and mission statement aligned with those of the IB; toured the school; looked at facilities and resources; observed classes; reviewed curriculum development; shared insightful materials; answered questions and gave useful and constructive advice for our next step.<\/p>\n

After the visit, all involved have taken advantage of this opportunity to strengthen the implementation of the IB programme. It is a rigorous process for us to become a continuum school, following the \u201cCurriculum Framework for Formal Education of Local Education System\u201d and adapting the IBMYP framework to the \u201cRequirements of Basic Academic Attainments of Local Education System\u201d. Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society is the first Chinese charitable organization in Macau, its humble origins of providing necessary needs to the poor and todays\u2019 sizeable charitable services has deeply benefit the society. 13 students were vividly introduced the establishment of Tung Sin Tong and its course of development at Macau Tung Sin Tong Historical Archive Exhibition Hall. Videos and photos recording the old days of Macao and citizens\u2019 life have raised students\u2019 awareness of their cultural heritage, the city\u2019s history, the community\u2019s needs and their appreciation of the act of social welfare commitments. This visit has also further enriched their understanding of the social significance and the importance of community charitable services.<\/p>\n

While the school invests significantly in both conventional and pioneering training with both national and international schools, we are very fortunate in being able to invite Miss Ji Hua, who is the principal of an International school in Malaysia and an expertise of IB senior workshop leader, gave us a valuable insight of how to become a successful IB school and IB teachers. Miss Ji Hua had not only introduced the IBPYP, MYP, DP and CP, but also shared a lot of examples of how to prepare ourselves to improve our pedagogy as well as leadership.
